MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A new garment factory has been established in northern Balkh province where 150 individuals have been employed and produced thousands meteres of cloth on daily bases.


Haji Baryali Nabizada, the owner of factory, told Pajhwok Afghan News the facility had been made functional over the past one month but was not officially inaugurated. He demanded government support for more production in the factory.

Textile and garment exports in northwest China's Xinjiang saw robust growth in the first 10 months this year, boosted by the Belt and Road Initiative, local customs authorities have said.

Exports of textiles and garments from Xinjiang reached 43 billion yuan (6.2 billion U.S. dollars) during the Jan.-Oct. period, up 49 percent from the same period last year, according to the customs of Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The financial tsunami — the demonetisation drive — has hit many of the small garment units in the State.

An estimated 250 small garment units are spread across the arid landscape of Ballari. From here, workers churn out trousers and jeans, primarily under local brands for Hyderabad, Chennai, and Mumbai. A truck transporting Cambodian garment workers to their factory flipped over at a curve Tuesday, injuring 54 of them, including seven who are in critical condition, police said.

The driver, who fled the scene, appeared to have been going too fast and crashed at a bend in the road in the eastern Svay Rieng province, police Gen. Roth Ron Veasna said.

He said it was raining and the road was slippery. The driver was unhurt while all the passengers were injured.

ROURKELA: After a slow start, the fashion garment sales has picked up pace in the last few days. A release of ex gratia to public sector steel workers for Durga Puja is adding to the festive shopping spree. Around `10,000 each was released to nearly 12,500 senior employees while `8,000 each was released to around 1,500 new joinees of RSP on Friday. Similarly, a sizeable number of South Eastern Railways Group B and C workers received `17,951 each.
