Imports at major retail container ports in US have slowed down after months-long rush to beat increased tariffs on goods from China, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Hackett Associates. US ports handled 1.81 Million TEU in November, down 11.4 per cent from 2.04 million TEU set in October.
A TEU is one 20-foot-long cargo container or its equivalent.

UK reports progress in green clothing
Shift in the fibre composition of clothing sold in the UK by retailer and brand signatories towards the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan 2020, and buying of more sustainably-produced fibres (mainly from the Better Cotton Initiative) have led to improved footprint of UK clothing in terms of saving water and redicng greenhouse gases, Wrap’s new report says.

India does not intend to change the existing foreign direct investment (FDI) policy related to multi-brand retail trade, according to Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) secretary Ramesh Abhishek, who said the $650 billion retail sector is growing fast, holding huge potential for businesses. DIPP also favours a cut in corporate tax rate, he said. 

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had lowered corporate tax rate to 25 per cent for businesses with turnover up to ₹250 crore.

Now, it will be used in fabric for Nobel Banquet garment worn by a ceremony master Andrea Montano Montes in Stockholm on 10 December.

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently launched in Ho Chi Minh City a water risk report for the country's textile and garment industry and a tool for assessing water risks in the Mekong region. Both are expected To support the development of garment and textile enterprises in the future.
